What is Focusing?

Based on extensive research into successful personal change, Focusing is a body-centred process that gives you access to a deep level of knowing, leading to inner transformation you can feel immediately. It is a process of attending inwardly with non-judgmental presence, helping to find greater clarity, insight and peace.

How can Focusing Help Me?

Focusing has many different applications and is used world wide in schools, businesses and hospitals by therapists, teachers, nurses, social workers, artists and sports professionals. It is a very simple self help skill that can be learned and used by everyone.
Focusing helps you to resolve issues and move forward with your life using the wisdom of your whole self, creating great sensitivity, gentleness and respect. It is so simple and empowering it permeates every aspect of life bringing with it a richness and depth.

Where Does Focusing Come From?

Focusing is based on the research and observations of Dr Eugene Gendlin of the University of Chicago into the way those clients who benefit most from counseling and therapy pay attention to their feelings. Dr Gendlin devised a step by step method to teach this natural mode of awareness, which developed into a self-help system. It is a close cousin of the person-centred approach begun by Carl Rogers with whom Gendlin was a colleague for many years.

"Focusing" is a process for helping your mind listen to the wisdom of your body. In any situation your body is sending you information. Many of us don't know how to open our minds to this information because it doesn't follow the same logic as our cognitive mind.. We have deeper wells of knowledge within us than we consciously know. Focusing helps to give us access to all of it.
